Dental care because of all the interesting people from all different walks of life. She feels it’s been especially wonderful since she moved to western Cleveland suburbs last year and has received great recommendations from patients on places to eat, things to do, and what doctors to see.
Her husband Brian’s job with Nestlé brought their family to Avon. She has 3 wonderful sons who keep her very
busy! She loves reading, running, Netflix, and dogs (especially her new rescue puppy Moose). She thinks she’s an amateur Cafélier, but she’s most likely just really addicted to coffee.
Danyele
Danyele is a seasoned dental assistant with over 13 years of experience. She loves getting to know the patients while providing excellent care. Danyele is on the go all day long, sharing an energy that is contagious. She enjoys camping and boating with her husband, whom she’s been married to for over 22 years. In the off-season, she enjoys a good book to read.
Dana

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Cleaning
What Should I Expect During a Routine Dental Cleaning?
A routine dental cleaning removes plaque and tartar from your teeth and polishes surfaces to maintain oral health.
Dental cleanings performed by a licensed dental hygienist also include a thorough examination of gums and teeth to identify early signs of cavities or gum disease. The hygienist may provide personalized recommendations for brushing, flossing, and at-home care to prevent future dental issues. This preventative approach helps maintain a healthy smile and reduces the need for more extensive treatments later.
How Often Should I Schedule Dental Cleaning?
Most patients benefit from dental cleaning every six months, though some may need more frequent visits based on oral health conditions.
A licensed dental hygienist evaluates factors such as gum health, plaque buildup, and personal risk for cavities to determine the ideal cleaning schedule. Patients with gum disease or a history of frequent cavities may be advised to schedule visits every three to four months. Regular cleanings support overall oral hygiene, prevent disease progression, and allow early detection of potential problems.
Does Dental Cleaning Cause Sensitivity or Discomfort?
Dental cleaning is generally comfortable, though mild sensitivity or gum irritation may occur during or shortly after the procedure.
Experienced licensed dental hygienists use gentle techniques to minimize discomfort while thoroughly removing plaque and tartar. Any temporary sensitivity is usually mild and short-lived. Hygienists can provide guidance on desensitizing toothpaste or special oral care practices to alleviate discomfort and maintain comfort between appointments.
Are Dental Cleanings Covered by Insurance?
Many dental insurance plans cover routine cleanings, but coverage depends on your specific policy and provider.
Avon Lake Family Dental Care can help patients verify insurance benefits before the appointment. Understanding coverage helps patients plan for out-of-pocket costs and ensures cleanings are performed without unexpected financial concerns. Preventative dental care, often fully covered by insurance, can save money long-term by avoiding more expensive restorative treatments.
Can Regular Dental Cleanings Prevent Serious Oral Health Problems?
Yes, regular dental cleanings help prevent cavities, gum disease, and other complications by removing harmful plaque and tartar buildup.
Working with a licensed dental hygienist ensures that oral hygiene is maintained at a professional level, beyond what brushing and flossing at home can achieve. Cleanings allow early detection of oral health issues such as enamel erosion, gum inflammation, or early cavities. Consistent preventative care supports long-term dental health, reduces the risk of costly procedures, and promotes a confident, healthy smile.
